Application FAQ

The following are a list of Frequently Asked Questions that should help guide you through the casting process:

1. Where is the board for this game?

A. If you are selected for the game, you will be given an invitation to the Discord server that will be hosting the game. However, please keep in mind that Online Survivor is a LIVE game. All meetings take place in Discord chat rooms at scheduled times based on everyone's availability. You can post all you like in the server, but if you are not present during the designated times, you will be considered absent. If you're looking for a game that you can play whenever you feel like at your leisure, this is not the game for you. However, if you're looking for an intense, real-time game that mimics the way Survivor is meant to be played, then you won't be disappointed.

2. If I have played / applied to Online Survivor before, may I apply again?

A. Yes, all people are eligible to apply regardless of their previous ONLINE SURVIVOR experience. Please feel free to reapply regardless of your history with this competition.

3. What information must be submitted in my application?

A. All applications must be submitted with a valid Discord Username and E-Mail address. All other information is requested, but not required. If you do not have a Discord account, you may sign up for free by going to https://discord.com. For 17 years, Online Survivor was played on AIM. However, due to the AIM shutdown on December 15, 2017, we were forced to a new venue, and the game now thrives on Discord.

4. What are the system requirements for this game?

A. As long as you are able to access the internet, there are really no other system requirements. You may play without downloading anything simply by logging in on the Discord website. It is recommended that you download a version of Discord from https://discord.com to access extra features such as notifications, but this is in no way required.

5. What if I'm not available during weekday evenings?

A. You need not be available for the entire evening, but you must be available for at least two hours in the evening to be eligible for consideration. Which two hours are selected as the core times will depend upon everyone's availability as a whole. If you are never available during weekday evenings, find a way to free up your schedule. Do whatever you have to, because all people must be available during weekday evenings to play the game. If there is no possible way you will be available during this time, then you will not be able to play. Sorry.

6. How will I know if you received my application, and if I have made it to the next round?

A. Upon applying, you will receive a confirmation E-Mail. If you do not receive this E-Mail within one week, please contact the producers using the link on the main page for a manual application form. The confirmation E-Mail will also detail when you can expect to be contacted next if you have made it to the next round. Typically, qualifying and interviews will begin approximately one month before the game begins.

7. I can't play for all thirteen weeks. If I am chosen to be a contestant, will this affect me?

A. Depending on what weeks you will miss, your absence may or may not directly affect you. Missing too much of the game at important points like the very beginning or end of the game may result in your elimination. However, missing a random week or two should not affect you, unless your fellow contestants decide to take advantage of your absence.

8. Do I need to have watched a lot of SURVIVOR to participate?

A. No, being a SURVIVOR expert is not required of contestants, but it certainly couldn't hurt to have those skills if you are chosen. Try looking at the "about" section on the main page of this website to begin learning the basics of SURVIVOR.

9. Can I change or cancel my application?

A. If you wish to alter your application, simply submit a new one. If you wish to cancel your submission, please reply to the confirmation E-Mail, or contact the producers by using the link on the main page.
